PEACE! BROTHERS AND SISTERS

Congratulations! You are a "roving" reporter for a new historical magazine. You and your brother and sisters will publish a magazine reporting major issues of the decade.

*EACH of you is responsible for three articles of the magazine—one political/social, one cultural, and one editorial.

*EACH of you as a journalist must research information for your articles using books, periodicals, real life testimony, and videos.

WARNING: Because of the number of students who must use the resources, no materials will be allowed out of the library. Any infraction will mean a failing grade. We all have to share.

*Choosing from a provided list, together you must decide what should be included in your magazine. Decisions must be made by consensus.

*EACH of you will be graded for the overall magazine and individual sections.

JOURNALIST NOTES:

MAGAZINE FORMAT: Reflective of the Decade

MAGAZINE CONTENT:

WARNING: If you do not document your sources, it is plagiarism. That is copying. That will earn a failing grade.

GROUP WORK:

The Links:

Each decade has links attached to the tables where you will find many suggested topics of the decade.  When you start, you should begin by using the US History Resources. There, you will find biographies of the people in the decade, a timeline of the decade, and information on the events of the decade.

Use Teacher Oz - listing of links for the '50s through the '90s.

To find books in the CHS Library, open Winnebago Spectrum.   Type in the topic you want to search.  You can find books on the decades by:

Keyword Search:  Decade Projects (click on the Call # column to put the books in numerical order)  Also, search by person's name

Subject Search:  (just some of the possibilities)

Browse the stacks in 973.9.....   973 is U.S. history.  .9 is 20th century, and each decimal point over refers to a later time period.
