Exploring the Universe

Objective:

Using library resources, briefly describe how scientists gather data about the universe by completing the table and answering the question based on your findings.

Note:  All written work must be in your own words.

Procedure:

Using your iBook, click on AppleWorks and go to page set-up.

Choose Landscape view.

Type your Name, today's date and class period at the top.

Insert a Table - 4 columns, 5 rows

Go to the table link on the web project and copy and paste the information into AppleWorks.

Using your iBook, click on the World Book icon.  Search for each of the technological developments (telescope, spectral analysis, red/blue shift, satellites/space craft).

Using the table you have created, record your findings in each of the appropriate boxes - remember to read the article and then put the information into your own words! (Note:  You may need more than 1 page for your table.  Try to keep your answers concise and to the point.)

Once you have collected this information, go to the Media icon in World Book and find a picture which enhances your answer.  Place this picture on your chart where indicated.

You should be able to find all of your information in the World Book.  If you need additional explanations to understand what the impact is on mankind for each of these 4 developments, you may use links provided in World Book or use the search engines Teoma or Zapmeta.
