FirstGov for Science - Math, Chemistry and Physics Links

Galileo Project - Posted by Michael Gelman - This hypothesis provides a general model for the mechanics of gravitation. It in no way refutes the observed behavior of gravitation, but merely seeks to explain it. I have based all but a single aspect of this model on established scientific knowledge, and that single aspect is my prediction of an unknown. (So it remains to be proved or disproved.)

Nuclear Energy Sites:

ABC's of Nuclear Science Directory: Can't tell the difference between fission and fusion? Worried about the effects of radiation but not really sure what to do about it? A visit to this site, sponsored by the Nuclear Science Education Committee at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, should help clear up some of the mystery. In addition to a handy glossary are such topics as antimatter; the differences between alpha, beta, and gamma rays, and the fundamentals of nuclear reaction. This site also has nine related experiments to try. Not able to access 4/2002

Atomic Archive - This site explores the complex history surrounding the invention of the atomic bomb - a crucial turning point for all mankind. Follow a timeline that takes you down the path of our nuclear past, from the 1920s to the present. Read biographies of A-bomb father Robert Oppenheimer and other key scientists of the nuclear age. See the Trinity Test through Enrico Fermi's eye as you read his first hand account of that history making event. Examine maps of the damage to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and summaries of arms-control treaties. You'll also find a gallery of exclusive photographs and animations of nuclear physics.
