Chemistry

General Links to explore when browsing:    Science NetLinks - Part of the MarcoPolo site - Science NetLinks strives to be a comprehensive “homepage” for K-12 science educators. Search our library of reviewed websites and lessons by selecting a science Benchmark topic.  All sites are reviewed for content and accuracy.

Chemistry Glossaries

American Chemical Society Chem Center - ChemCenter provides resources for chemists in industry and education as
well as students and individuals that want reliable, accurate information about the chemistry-related sciences and the American Chemical Society. This is a searchable database.

Atoms Family - a Science Learning Network resource based on The Atoms Family exhibit currently on display at The Miami Museum of Science. This resource contains educational activities relating to different forms of energy, and are being presented by famous gothic horror characters.

Chemdex.org - Chemistry links maintained by the University of Sheffield, England

Chem4Kids - Part of the Ryder's Kapili Site.  The wealth of information available and the ease of navigation combine to make this Web site a valuable destination.  Organized by: matter, atoms, elements, reactions, and biochemistry.  Excellent for research!

Chemistry Links from the Physical Science Information Gateway located in the UK.  Excellent links which are up-to-date.

Chemical Scorecard Contains information about chemicals in the environment, regulations, and research done on chemicals. It is an activist site but is also a gateway to authoritative information from various agencies and publishers..

Chemicool Periodic Table Provides chemical information in table form.

Chemistry Central (Blocked by Bess)- A good site to begin research or to review material as mini chapters are offered on many subjects.

Chemistry Web Resources

CheMystery - "We have created CHEMystery, a virtual chemistry textbook, to provide an interactive guide for high school chemistry students. In addition,CHEMystery allows you to further expand your chemistry knowledge by letting you interact with other Internet resources on the World Wide Web." Created for Thinkquest.

Conversion Technology - The Company claims that this process can turn almost anything into oil. Plastic bottles, syringes, municiple liquid waste, tires, medical waste, turkey guts, etc.  Amazing. And it's actually eco-friendly. It's called Thermal Depolymerization.

FirstGov for Science - Math, Chemistry and Physics Links.  Search this Science site also for energy links, and applied science and technology links.

General Chemistry Online - Plenty of information at this site complete with a searchable, annotated database of more than 400 general chemistry Web resources.

The Information Retrieval in Chemistry WWW Server - Excellent gateway to chemistry sites with more than 60 categories which lead to a further listing of sites within that category. Areas included are Articles, Journals, Instructional, and Workshops.

Jefferson Lab - Homework help on the atom and the elements.  Quizzes and puzzles to check out.

Links to Chemistry Experiments and Demonstrations - Highly inclusive list of links provided by Dr. Jacobs, a chemistry teacher at Wilton High School, CT.  Links are relevant to high school students.

LSU Libraries Webliography: Chemistry Internet Resources - Links to university sites, chemical companies, sites by subject and safety information can be found here. The latest research in the field is also presented.

Molecular Workbench Project - offers a "molecular simulation engine"—a set of tools that can be used to compute and visualize the motion of atoms and molecules. Five units draw on molecular models generated by the simulation engine to help students learn about kinetic energy, states of matter; aquatic solutions in and around cells; monomers and polymers; and protein shaping. Thirty-five activities include how hot air balloons work, how superballs are like atoms, what matter is made of, and "rainstorm in a bag." (The Concord Consortium, supported by National Science Foundation)

Periodic Table This Periodic Table provides its information in text form and has good descriptions of the history and uses of each element.

TOXNET - a cluster of databases on toxicology, hazardous chemicals, and related areas  Additional links

Visual Elements Periodic Table - Wonderful, colorful teaching tool!

Web Elements - - An interactive periodic table that serves as a main menu to a database of information about the elements.
