Current Global issues at Facing the Future: People and the Planet - a non-profit organization leads students to better understand the role and effects of human population on the world.  An "Issues in Depth" link will look closely at many issues facing us today.

Current Issues Site - "Justice Learning is an innovative, issue-based approach for engaging high school students in informed political discourse." The web site uses audio from the Justice Talking radio show and articles from The New York Times to teach students about reasoned debate and the often-conflicting values inherent in our democracy. The web site includes articles, editorials and oral debate from the nation's finest journalists and advocates

Global Connections - Produced by WGBH, this online resource can help you and your students learn more about two areas of the world currently making headline news, Liberia and the Middle East. Designed especially for high school classrooms, "Global Connections" draws from the extensive resources of PBS and NPR to offer visitors a deeper understanding of these regions and their relationships with the U.S.

Media Awareness Network - This highly-rated Canadian site acts as a clearinghouse of information and resources for media literacy and violence in the media. It also includes over 140 prepared and copyright cleared teacher units and discussion groups on current media related issues.

National Issues Forum - NIF - nonpartisan, nationwide network of locally sponsored public forums for the consideration of public policy issues.

Popular Research Topics from Dallas High School Library - excellent links to articles, essays, reports and other research commonly used for research papers and speeches. The topics cover current issues in the news.

Public Agenda.org - Public Agenda's mission is to help: 1. American leaders better understand the public's point of view. 2. Citizens know more about critical policy issues so they can make thoughtful, informed decisions.

Voices of Youth (VOY) - A youth community site created by UNICEF.  Here, youth from around the world can explore, discuss, and partner on issues related to human rights and social change through e-discussion boards, guidelines, and news.
