Bridges Activity Research Instructions
The Process
1. Take the Bridges interest survey - Explorer has 20 questions. Planner has over a hundred. Do the one that you feel will be most helpful.
2. After you have completed and printed the results of the interest quiz, check out some of the careers listed there for you—even ones that you may not have considered before, but sound interesting. If you cannot find one from the list of 20, check your list of 50.
3. Choose one career that interests you. Read all of the information about the career and watch the video. Make sure you take notes on the following: job description, requirements, job outlook and other interesting information. Cite your source. You are welcome to explore the other career sites, but make sure you include the source information.
4. After this, research schools who specialize in this field. Choose 3 or 4 you are interested in. Look at their information, keeping in mind your criteria from your college journal. Again, cite your source(s).
Content: Write 4 t0 5 paragraphs explaining why you would or would not consider this career. Start with an interesting introduction - hou you played as an adult as a child, or where you see yourself in 10 years, or how a particular experience helped you decide on your career interests. Use specific evidence from your reading, viewing, and interviewing to explain your decision to discuss the career. Then, write about the college/universities that you are considering attending. Again, explain your decision(s). End with a dicussion on whether you have changed your mind or not. Explain why. Format: --Follow MLA paper format. --This paper is informal (about you) and formal (using MLA format). --Do not use you or I think. --Document direct quotes or paraphrased ideas in your paragraphs using parenthetical documentation. --Cite your source(s) in a Work Cited following MLA format. Use Noodle tools. No sources, no grade!
