Multicultural Research Project

The Pearl

Ties That Bind, Ties That Break

Task

For this project, you will be writing a mini-research paper in which you discuss one of the political, social, or traditional events related to the multicultural novels. Your paper must answer the following essential question and needs to have three sources, one citation being from a book.

Essential Question: How does the information you found impact your understanding of the novel?

For CHS Freshman

Your mini-research paper needs to answer the essential question, relating the topic you are researching to your understanding of the novel. The paper needs to be about 1 ½ to 2 pages in length. It should be set-up in the following format:

  • Introduction

Introduces the researched topic and its relationship to the novel. Contains a thesis stating how the information enhanced your understanding of the story.

  • Body (about three paragraphs – one paragraph for each piece of information)

Discusses the information found and relates it back to the essential question. Supports ideas by talking about the story.

  • Conclusion

Wraps up ideas by returning to the topic itself.
