Click on Teacher Research on the left-hand side of the page

and go to Albair.

Next, click on Junior Art Project, which will provide you with a link to

the site that you will be using for today’s activities. This is a really

cooooool site full of great information and fun things to do.

I hope that learning about the language of art will help you strengthen

your use of language in your writing.

2. Please read all directions carefully to complete the correct activities.

3. Your first step is to click on Elements of Art in the

left-hand column of the home page. Here you will find a bulleted list of 7 items,

all of which are used in the creation of great – or not-so-great – works

of art. Begin by clicking on Line and reading of the information.

The creator of this site has provided you with some wonderful paintings,

tapestries, sculptures, etc. Many are well-known.

4. When you have finished reading about Line, proceed to Color.

I have provided the class with a few copies of the Color Study Guide

to help you with this. Read all of the information and take notes

where appropriate. At the end of the Color page, complete the activity

entitled Name the Color Family. This is an online activity, so you do not

need to print anything.

5. Move on to Texture, read all of the information

and take notes when appropriate.

6. Your next move will be to Shape. Follow the same procedures as

before and complete The Shape Detective activity at the end.

Print and complete this for homework.

7. Move on to Space, read the information and take notes.

8. Your final stop today is Value. Proceed in the same

 manner as above.

9. Now that you have read all of the information,

return to Elements of Art and complete the activity

at the end entitled ART LINKS. Print and complete for homework.

10. If time permits, you might enjoy the "click here"

activity associated with the Mondrian painting under Color.

The Art Critiquing Process

Today you will read about and take notes on the steps

involved in critiquing pieces of art.

The activities will give you opportunities to

expand your vocabulary

and improve on your ability to describe objects,

using "exact" and colorful words. Along the way,

you’ll see works of art by famous artists.

Follow all directions carefully.

Use the same procedure as in the previous

2 classes to get to the ART * iculation : Learning to Look at Art site.

Click on Art Critiquing Process and read the introduction on the home page.

Notice that there are 5 categories in today’s list.

2. Read all of the information in the Description portion.

Make sure to take notes that will be helpful to you.

Print In Other Words, and complete it for homework for tomorrow.

3. Move on to Analysis. Read and take notes as before.

Print The Check List. Before moving on complete the

activity entitled What Do You Think?

4. It is now time to learn about Interpretation.

Follow the standard procedure.

5. You’ve almost finished. Move on to Judgment;

 read and take notes.

6. Finally, read The Credit Line. Print and complete

Discovering Credit Line Clues and complete it

by the end of class today.
