Your Place in the World"

Senior Academic English

The final quarter of your high school experience has arrived, and soon you will be going out into the world. What role will you play?  In the next few weeks, you will travel to places you have never been before and will assume roles that are new to you.  You will explore literature. myths and legends that help to define places, both near and far.

Where will you begin?

 

Let's start with Canterbury Tales!

  1. As a class we will read The Wife of Bath's Tale in your literature book.

  2. Watch the video of The Knight's Tale.

  3. Complete a fictional biography.

  4. Create a fictional travel log.

  5. Use The World and I database to research writers/poets from the area you visit.

 

          Select a novel to read

          Collect poems

 

Now you will enter the world of myth.

 

  1. Learn about Norse mythology.

  2. Use The World and I database to discover myths associated with the land you visited earlier.

  3. Retell a myth.

  4. Create an artifact.

  5. Research a legend or myth from Northern Maine.

 

The final task-

     Create a 3-dimensional representation of yourself that incorporates the physical, the emotional, and the spiritual sides of you.
