Caribou
Middle School has successfully competed in the Maine Vocal Jazz
Festival for the past 12 years. They have won the Division 1
Junior High Show Choir championship for the past three consecutive
years.
Students
in grades 5 to 8 who are members in good standing in the Middle
School Chorus program, may audition for one of 24 slots in this
select group. Auditions include a vocal solo, part singing and
demonstration of basic dance ability. Students are also used
in a rhythm section which varies in instrumentation with the
style of the program.
Mrs. King takes great pride in putting together
original programs and often arranges the instrumental pieces
used to accompany the group. This year, the students performed
a Renaissance theme program with elaborate costumes, sets and
choreography.
Parents helped put together costumes and
scenery. The student rhythm section, made up of a variety of
woodwinds and percussion, won the "Outstanding Division
1 Rhythm Section award" for their
performance.
