Hands-on learning activities, such as, tractor operation, ATV safety, Arc & MIG welding, basic electricity, hydraulics, small engines, and turf and landscape maintenance are also included. With the addition of a Greenhouse to this program many changes will be incorporated over the coming years
Auto Body - Instructor - Ken Westin
The auto body repair program covers: glass replacement, plastic and fiberglass repairs, frame straightening, sanding, refinishing, estimating repairs, surface preparation and the application of a variety of automotive finishes and auto detailing. Training is offered in the computer color matching system. The pressurized paint booth will provide an optimum training experience..
Automotive Technology - Instructor - Kevin Keaton
This program teaches a variety of mechanical skills. Students have the opportunity to become familiar with shop safety, tune-ups and troubleshooting: ignitions, starting and charging systems. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of maintenance, repair and overhaul of most vehicle components. Students are instructed on the use of the new scope analyzer, monitor 2000 and multi-meters. You will learn to use state of the art equipment, such as a five gas analyzer, computerized wheel alignment machine, wheel balancer, disk brake lathe, and the environmentally safe parts cleaner.
Computer Information Processing - Instructor - Jane Umphrey
Computer Information Processing is a one-year introductory course for students interested in becoming proficient in Office 97, web page publishing, desktop publishing and web design applications. This course offers both theory and hands-on experiences.
Computer Repair - Instructor - Lisa Anderson
This course is designed for the student preparing for a career as a computer service technician. Topics include safety, basic, electronic theory, soldering, use of a digital multimeter, computer configuration, installing hardware and soft\ware, upgrading, diagnosis, repair, customer interaction and preventative maintenance. This course will help prepare students who wish to obtain A+ Certification in Computer Servicing.
Food Services - Instructor - Juanita Campbell
Students will study all aspects of the food service industry; safety, sanitation, customer relations, customer service, food preparation and proper use of kitchen equipment. Students gain on-the-job training by operating the Viking Korner Kitchen, which serves school staff and visitors from the community. Students are exposed to the different jobs and areas of the kitchen.
Graphic Arts - Instructor - Nelson Valiquette
Enter the world of imagery through color, print and design using media and equipment to generate personal artwork. Graphic Arts processes will be examined while producing silkscreen, offset printing press and photography projects. Computer graphics and clipart will be used to aid in layouts and project development. This class meets the requirements for one half of a Fine Arts Credit.
Health & Medical Sciences - Instructor - Carol Buzzell
Health & Medical Sciences is a one year program designed to prepare you for a career in the medical field. Entry level skills are taught and practiced at health care facilities. Areas covered include: anatomy & physiology, nutrition, medical terminology and gerontology. Basic bedside care skills are also taught to students desiring a nursing assistant’s certification. The state board examination is administered in May
Criminal Justice- Instructor - Melinda Howe
Students are exposed to accident investigations, court room procedures, motor vehicle law, criminal law and juvenile law. Hands-on activities, guest speakers and visits to law enforcement sites are also included.
Large Equipment Maintenance & Operation - Instructor - Tom Huston
This
course will provide students with a basic knowledge of heavy equipment
maintenance and operation in many real world situations. Preventive maintenance
will include changing oil, greasing, tightening belts, replacing parts and basic
wiring. Students must have a current drivers license.
Marketing education is a two-year program meeting one period each day. Activities include: selling, promotion, distribution, pricing, purchasing, risk management, financing, and market research. Students can also participate in OJT (on-the-job-training) which provides work experience in retail occupations and offers up to two credits.
Construction - Instructor - Spencer Bragan
This course prepares students for entry level employment as general construction workers. Masonry, carpentry, roofing, blue print reading and estimating are also taught. Students will have opportunities to develop skills at actual construction sites.
Video Productions - Instructor - Brenda Jepson
This course will cover methods and techniques to plan, produce and direct entertainment and informational video programs. Instruction in scheduling, video tape editing, on and off camera/microphone procedures and facilities management, broadcast law, policies and code regulations will also be included.
Welding / Metal Technology - Instructor - Kevin Quist
This program provides training in skills and techniques necessary for entry level employment as a welder. Shop safety, oxyacetylene, metallurgy, arc welding, TIG, MIG, plasma arc, fabrication and all electrodes are taught. This course is designed to enable the students to develop an understanding of the technology and its impact on society. Newly added to the program is Computer Aided Manufacturing. This section of the program will cover the computer controlled millers and computer controlled lathes. Programming of this equipment is included
