What we have available on-line from the CHS Library:

Encyclopedia Britannica - available to us through the Maine InfoNet.  Click on  Maine Infonet Research Database icon at the bottom of the  page and go to Encyclopedias.  You can access this from home also.

Groliers Encyclopedia - Groiler's (School Access) (From School)  Groliers Multimedia Encyclopedia, Americana Encyclopedia, Lands and People and New Book of Popular Science.  Remember to get a business card with the log-in name and password.

Encyclozine: an encyclopedia and portal for sciences and humanities - This is a graphic intensive site which presents everything from the arts and humanities to science and technology.  Definitions of each category are presented, along with examples, and then you will find links to particularly relevant sites.  You can also search the whole site by EncycloZine's Micropedia engine.

Encarta Encyclopedia - Offers a condensed on-line version of the popular encyclopedia - blocked by filter

Guinness World Records - Every year, thousands of people from around the world contact Guinness World Records Ltd in the hope of becoming an official Guinness World Record holder. Many of them do.  Read how this tradition started when you log on the site.

World FactBook.com - everything from geography to demographics at this CIA site.
