CPAC’s Spring Season 2010
Friday, March 26 TWO OLD
FRIENDS 7:00 pm
MAC MCHALE & EMERY HUTCHINS
 Mac
McHale and Emery Hutchins, affectionately known as Mac & Hutch, have
recently joined forces to sing and play songs from Ireland,
the mountains and the sea. Mac and Hutch were the original founders of
Northeast Winds and traveled and recorded with The Winds for nearly 15
years. For the last 15 years Mac has headed up a very successful
group, Mac McHale & the Old-Time Radio Gang. Hutch has been a very
important part of the Angel Band, a world famous Irish music group.
They will be performing some of their favorites from The Northeast
Winds as well as some very old-time traditional country music. The
program is sure to include some of your favorite sea songs, a good
amount of hot picking instrumentals and some great sing-a-longs. Mac &
Hutch will be playing the banjo, guitar, mandolin, concertina,
bodran
and the harmonica.
Prior to the concert, there will be a benefit Irish Supper (Irish
stew, mashed potatoes and soda bread, dessert and coffee or tea) in
the Caribou High School Café. The meal will be prepared by the
Culinary Arts class at CHS and dinner service will commence at 5:00pm.
Dinner benefits the CHS Drama Club.

GODSPELL
7:00 pm
Godspell (an archaic spelling of the word
gospel) is a 1970 musical by
Stephen Schwartz and
John-Michael Tebelak. It opened
off Broadway on May 17, 1971, and has played in various touring companies and
revivals many times since. The structure of the musical is that of a
series of parables, based on the
Gospel of Matthew (though considerable material, such as the parables of the
prodigal son and of the rich man and Lazarus, comes exclusively from
the
Gospel of Luke). These are then interspersed with
a variety of modern music set primarily to lyrics from traditional
hymns, with the passion of Christ treated briefly near the end of
performance. It started as a college project performed by students at
Carnegie Mellon University and moved to La Mama
in
Greenwich Village. Produced by Joe Zubrick and
featuring the Caribou High School Drama Club and community.

MALLETT 7:00 pm
The cool
breezes of Maine's northlands have flowed through the songs of David
Mallett for more than four decades. In addition to being featured on
his eleven solo albums, Mallett's pen has provided material for an
eclectic list of artists that includes Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger,
Emmylou Harris, Kathy Mattea, John Denver and the Muppets. His tune,
"The Garden Song", has been recorded more than one hundred and fifty
times.
After eleven albums of original tunes, Mallett, 57, has taken a
different approach with his latest effort, "The Fable True". Based on
a book by naturalist/author Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862), "The
Maine Woods", the album features Thoreau's words set to new melodies
composed by Mallett. "I picked out twenty-two stories",
said Mallett, "and surrounded each with a separate piece of music.
It's a nice little package, actually."
