In 1980 two teachers, Ruth Dionne and Linda Mazerolle got together and decided to put on a show for and with the Middle School Students just for fun. They based it on television’s “Gong Show” complete with gong! Over time the format changed and it became a way to raise money for the school. Profits from this activity have purchased or helped purchase, spot lights, stereo equipment, a wireless microphone, projector, warm up uniforms, playground equipment, and many other items to benefit CMS students and staff. Ruth Dionne and Kathy Bouchard worked tirelessly until their retirement in 2000, when they decided new blood was needed to keep the show successful. Puttin on the Hits has continued with parent advisors Kathy Susee, Cathy Cullins, Joan Albert and Lori Caron. Caribou Middle School students, teachers, staff and even parents are welcome to create their own skit or dance routine to a tasteful, entertaining song of their choice as an individual or group. Tryouts for the show are held in January, with practices starting in March and the 2004 show will be at Caribou Performing Arts Center on April 13th at 7:00p.m. with a repeat performance on April 16th at CMS for grades 4 thru 8.
